Seconds Frustrated By Weather After Milton Keynes Recovery

Seconds Frustrated By Weather After Milton Keynes Recovery

Worcestershire Seconds had to be content with a draw from their opening Second Eleven Championship match of the season after recovering in fine style against Northamptonshire Seconds at Milton Keynes.

Just like the first team against New Zealand, the blanket of rain across the country meant no play was possible for the Seconds on Thursday.

The game was evenly poised after two days with Northants having the better of the first day and Worcestershire taking the honours on day two.

They led by 31 runs with eight second wickets in hand at the end of day two thanks to unbeaten half centuries from George Rhodes and Joe Clarke.

Worcestershire Seconds will next be in action on Tuesday (May 19) when they take on Unicorns in two matches in the Second Eleven Twenty20 competition at Knypersley.

They experienced mixed fortunes in their opening two SET20 matches against Northants in the competition on Monday, winning the first game and losing the second in two low-scoring contests.

Worcestershire 142 (Kohler-Cadmore27) and 176-2 (Clarke 51 not out, Rhodes 50 not out, Kohler-Cadmore 46), Northants 287 (Russell 6-104). Match drawn.
