Rhodes Takes Four Wickets As Barnards Green Triumph

George Rhodes was amongst the wickets for Barnards Green who defeated visiting Sutton Coldfield by 77 runs in a Birmingham and District League Division One clash.

Barnards Green totalled 242-8 in their 55 overs and then Worcestershire all-rounder Rhodes returned fine figures of 14-6-28-4 – including top scorer Peter McKay (71) – as Sutton Coldfield were dismissed for 165.

In the same division, Josh Tongue continued his comeback from his back injury with two wickets for Brockhamptonin their seven wicket win over Attocks.

Tongue finished with 7-1-23-2 as Attocks were bowled out for 107 in 41.1 overs and then Brockhampton knocked off the runs in 26 overs.

Alexei Kervezee hit 72 off 72 balls with one six and nine fours but Bromsgrove, who were dismissed for 154 in 41.4 overs, lost by seven wickets away to Smethwick (156-3 in 36 overs).

In the Premier Division, Ed Barnard and Ollie Westbury helped Barnt Green to a nine wicket win over visiting Kidderminster.

Barnard took the new ball and removed both openers during a spell of 8-2-17-2 as Kidderminster were bowled out for 89.

Westbury then struck 26 not out and Ed Foster 61 not out and the pair shared an unbroken stand of 88 as Barnt Green triumphed by nine wickets.

Tom Fell made 36 off 45 balls with two sixes and five fours for Wolverhampton who totalled 220 all out off 54 overs.

But visiting Berkswell reached 222-3 in just 43 overs despite two wickets for Ben Twohig.
