Oliver Again In Sparkling Form To Keep Geelong T20 Hopes Alive

Oliver Again In Sparkling Form To Keep Geelong T20 Hopes Alive

Richard Oliver was again in good form for Geelong City who defeated home side St. Josephs by eight wickets in the Geelong Advertiser Division One T20 Cup last night.

The Worcestershire opener and Geelong skipper hit an unbeaten half century to keep alive his side's hopes of reaching the last four.

Geelong lost their opening two games to Leopold and South Barwon but back to back wins over Lara CC and the Saints have revived their hopes.

Now they must win their final match at home to Murgheboluc on December 16 to have a chance of securing a semi-final spot.

Oliver, who has also impressed in the 50 over and two-day matches, put St. Josephs into bat and they were restricted to 120-5 in their 20 overs.

Geelong made light of their task and knocked off the runs in just 12 overs after Oliver and SV Anastasiu (60) had shared an opening stand of 86.

The pair had also put on 108 in the nine wicket success over Lara when Oliver contributed 76 not out.

This time the former Shropshire captain, who earned a contract at New Road after impressive NatWest T20 Blast performances, remained undefeated on exactly 50.
