Notts Coach Awaits Fitness Results On Fletcher And Carter

Nottinghamshire coach Mick Newell will await on overnight medical reports on Luke Fletcher (hamstring) and Andy Carter (side) before knowing whether either can bowl again in the game against Worcestershire at Trent Bridge.

Fletcher was first to leave the outfield on day one with a hamstring problem after bowling three overs and Carter followed him off with a abdominal problem which meant Samit Patel had to complete his over.

The duo have just returned to their parent county after loan spells with Surrey and Glamorgan respectivey.

Newell said: "Fletcher has gone for a scan and I would be amazed if Carter bowled again in the game. Fletcher's got a hamstring and Carter an abdominal problem.

"Now we've got to manage a three man bowling attack. Good luck captain on that! – especially when one is a spinner (Samit Patel) on a pitch when he really shouldn't be bowling.

"Having said that,I thought Samit did well tonight."

Notts were bowled out for 240 after being 74-0 at one stage. Newell said; "Even whilst the opening partnership was developing you could see that the wicket was doing a bit.

"I never thought it was going to be 400 or 450.

"I think 240 is a little bit under par, but it's a wicket with enough in it to keep you interested."
