Worcestershire missed out on a place at finals day in the Second Eleven Twenty20 competition after losing by five wickets to group winners Somerset at Kidderminster yesterday.
The county needed to win both matches against their West Country rivals to overhaul them but, after losing the first contest, the second was abandoned because of rain.
Colin Munro and Moeen Ali warmed up for Worcestershire Rapids NatWest T20 Blast match with Nottinghamshire Outlaws at Trent Bridge tonight (Friday) with some big hitting.
All-rounder Gareth Andrew, who missed the opening two T20 Blast games and the LV = County Championship win over Essex through injury, only bowled two overs.
Worcestershire were put into bat in the opening game and Munro used the switch hit to good effect in making 51 off 27 balls with three sixes and six fours.
Skipper Joe Leach (34) was the other main contributor in a total of 141-6.
Graeme Cessford and Brett D'Oliveira both picked up two wickets in the Somerset reply.
But an unbeaten 55 from James Burke and 33 not out off 16 balls saw the visitors home with eight balls to spare and clinched their place at Arundel on June 5.
Worcestershire again batted first in the second game after winning the toss and Moeen smote 43 off 20 balls.
He hit the first four balls of Callum Stewart's over for six but was caught at long on off the fifth with the total 55-2.
At that juncture heavy rain started falling and never relented and the game was eventually abandoned.
