Moeen Ali is England's second highest run-scorer and lying third in the averages ahead of England's final One-Day International against Sri Lanka in Colombo tomorrow.
The Worcestershire all-rounder has scored 236 runs at an average of 39.3 with one hundred and one fifty to his name from his six innings in the opening batsman role.
He also has the highest strike rate of the England batsman – 124.21 runs per 100 balls.
Only Joe Root has scored more runs to date than Moeen who has been an ever present in a ODI series for the first time since he made his senior England debut in the West Indies – also as an opener – last winter.
He then put together scores of 44,10 and 55 in scoring 109 runs at an average of 36.33 before not being selected for the home ODI series with Sri Lanka and the first three matches against visiting India.
Moeen has so far had three opening partners in Michael Lumb (3 games) skipper Alastair Cook (5) and Alex Hales (one) in his nine matches at the top of the order.
On the bowling front Moeen has picked up three wickets against the Sri Lankans at a cost of 93.33 runs apiece with an economy rate of 5.38 runs per over.
