Worcestershire wicket-keeper Ben Cox is remaining at New Road this winter rather than returning to Australia.
Cox had initially indicated he was to go back Down Under on December 1 and play for Adelaide, having turned out last winter with considerable success for Greenvale Kangaroos.
He had impressed Worcestershire first team physio Ben Davies and Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes with his rapid progress after undergoing a successful shoulder operation last month.
But the 23-year-old, who enjoyed a successful 2015 campaign with bat and ball, will instead continue to be put through his paces along with his County team-mates under the supervision of strengthening and conditioning coach Ross Dewar.
Then after Christmas, Cox and the other Worcestershire players will step up their net practice and technical work at Malvern College ahead of the third pre-season tour of Abu Dhabi in early March.
Batsman Tom Fell is set to fly out on December 7 to play grade cricket in Perth after getting the green light following surgery for testicular cancer.
He will link up with county colleagues in Australia in Tom Kohler-Cadmore (Penrith Panthers), George Rhodes (North Canberra Gungahlin), Alex Hepburn (Willetton Dragons) and Ollie Westbury (Hay Park).
Assistant coach Matt Mason said: "That has been tough on everyone here because it was a bit of a shock and Tom seemed to be the least worried of all of us because he is such a relaxed bloke.
"It's great news that he is able to get out there to Australia and start playing some cricket because who knew what was going to happen."
