Hepburn Leads Willetton Fightback With Determined Half Century

Alex Hepburn top-scored to rescue Willetton Dragons on day one of the Western Australia Cricket Association first grade match with visiting Subiaco Floreat.

The Worcestershire all-rounder came to the wicket at 0-2 – a score which soon became 3-3 – after Willetton had been put into bat.

Hepburn went onto make a determined 60 off 170 balls with six fours in a knock lasting more than three and a half hours.

He was finally eighth out at 177 as Willetton were bowled out for 202 in 67 overs.

By the close Subiaco had reached 33-1 off 10 overs with the game to be concluded next weekend.

In the same competition, Ed Barnard made 22 batting at number four for Scarborough on day one of the away meeting with Joe Clarke's former club South Perth.

Barnard hit four fours and faced 44 balls before he was third out at 92 as Scarborough were bowled out for 247 in 80.4 overs.

By the close South Perth had reached 23-0 off seven overs with the second day scheduled for November 5.

George Rhodes' side, Tea Tree Gully, were involved in a high scoring draw with Adelaide in the South Australia Cricket Association first grade.

Adelaide batted on during the early part of day two and eventually declared on 380-9 from 105 overs with Rhodes returning figures of 8-1-30-0.

Rhodes came in at number five and made 25 off 47 balls with four boundaries before he was fifth out at 120.

Ben Hutchinson hit 108 not out as Tea Tree closed on 312-9.
