Worcestershire batsman Alex Gidman has been ruled out of the finale to the season with a broken finger.
Gidman will miss the last two LV = County Championship matches against Durham – which got underway today – and Middlesex.
The former Gloucestershire player suffered the injury during fielding practice at the ICG Emirates yesterday.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore, a regular in white ball cricket for Worcestershire this season, was drafted into the side as Gidman's replacement.
Gidman has experienced a challenging first season at New Road and also had a spell out of the side with mild concussion after being hit on the helmet by a Ben Hilfenhaus delivery at Trent Bridge in late June.
He has scored three half centuries in the LV = CC with a top score of 78 against Somerset and has been praised for his willingness to pass on advice and experience to the Club's crop of youngsters.
Meanwhile, Tom Fell wants to end the season on a personal high note and in the process help Worcestershire to the two victories which will bolster their Division One survival hopes.
Fell admits the Worcestershire batsmen are looking to improve on their performance against Sussex when the LV = County Championship match against Durham at the ICG Emirates gets underway today.
He is Worcestershire's leading run-scorer in the LV = CC this summer with 802 and is still aiming to achieve his pre-season target of 1,000 by performing well against Durham and then Middlesex next week.
Worcestershire were bowled out on a good batting track for just 210 against Sussex after winning the toss and eventually lost by an innings and 63 runs.
Fell said: "My own season has been pretty good. I'd have liked to have had a few more runs over the last few weeks.
"I'm hoping the last two games I can come to the party and really finish the season well.
"The 1,000 runs is still in reach and I could do with a couple of decent scores in the last couple of games and hopefully contribute towards a couple of wins to keep us up.
"Have the batsmen been disappointed with last couple of matches? The guys are very disappointed, especially with the last game, the way we got out, on what ended up being a pretty decent wicket to bat on.
"Some of the dismissals were below average really for what we expect. The guys were disappointed but we have practiced hard and will come back again up at Durham."
Fell added: "We know Durham is going to be a result wicket and if things go our way, there is no reason why we can't get a result up there.
"We've just seen Hampshire get a result and there is no reason why we can't do the same.
"Then Middlesex in the last game, anything can happen last game of the season, we are going to be fighting for our lives and they may not have much to play for and again you never know what can happen there.
"We can take confidence from the way we played against Durham and Middlesex, that gives you a little bit of confidence when you play a team you know you've done well against.
"We've got to take each game as it comes and hopefully finish the season with a couple of results."
