Worcestershire newcomer Alex Gidman says "I've moved on and so have they" as he prepares to face his former county Gloucestershire in tomorrow's 50 over friendly at New Road (10.45 am).
Gidman spent more than a decade with Gloucestershire before joining Worcestershire on a two year deal for the 2015 and 2016 campaigns and will look forward to catching up with some of his ex team-mates.
But his focus is on taking the next step forward in preparations with his new county for the opening LV = County Championship clash with Division One champions Yorkshire at New Road starting on April 12.
Gidman said: "I'm naturally looking forward to seeing the guys again. I've 100 per cent moved on and so have they.
"From a cricket point of view, I'm looking forward to doing what we need to do as a team to up the gears ready for that first game.
"It will be lovely to sit down and have a chat with a couple of the guys but life goes on and we crack on."
The county have 10 days of action against Gloucestershire, Warwickshire, Oxford MCCU and Northamptonshire to hone their skills ahead of the meeting with the Tykes.
Gidman said: "You want to get going, get in the flow of things, but I think we'd all agree we've got a bit more work to do in the next few weeks.
"The Abu Dhabi trip was brilliant and got us in a good place but we all just want that decent score now, that decent spell under our belts but I don't think we are a million miles away.
"The truth is we've still got plenty of playing time before the first game so hopefully we can get the whole group ready to rock n'roll.
"There will be some stiff competition for places which is very healthy but we'll crack on and be as ready as we can for that first game in a few weeks."
Gidman scored his first half century for the club against Derbyshire in Abu Dhabi.
He said: "I struggled with blisters of all things which is very rare for me. I really enjoyed it. I love touring. It was part of my career when I was younger and I really enjoy that asepct of the team sport.
"I had one good score and one not so good score but I captained that team (when Daryl Mitchell was rested) and really enjoyed it.
"Everyone bought into what I tried to do. The facilities were good, the wickets were lively which was a good challenge for us. As a group, we got a lot out of it."
