Worcestershire Cricket Society have finalised their winter programme and, as usual, a varied and interesting variety of speakers will be entertaining members on the second Tuesday of each month in the Graeme Hick Pavilion from October through to March (7.30pm start).
Mark Hardinges, a member of the one-day kings of the late 1990s and early 2000s in Gloucestershire, will kick off the programme on October 13. He is now master in charge of cricket at Malvern College who have close links with the County.
Former Worcestershire paceman John Inchmore will be recalling his time at New Road on November 10. John played for the County between 1973 and 1986, was a member of the Championship winning side of 1974, and finished his career with 510 first class and 279 List 'A' wickets.
In December, England's Ashes hero of 1975, David Steele, will be the speaker. David was brought in by captain Tony Greig to face the pace of Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson that summer and had scores of 50, 45, 73, 92, 39 and 66 and was voted BBC Sports Personality Of The Year and one of Wisden's Cricketers Of The Year.
Current Worcestershire left armer Jack Shantry will be the speaker on January 12. Jack has picked up 50 wickets for the second successive season and gone down in County folklore for his century and 10 wickets in the promotion clinching win over Surrey last summer at New Road.
On February 9 cricket writer, historian and statistician Peter Wynne-Thomas will entertain the Society. Peter has been the librarian and archivist at Trent Bridge for Nottinghamshire CCC for many years.
The programme will conclude on March 8 with Worcestershire Heritage Group Chairman and current Worcestershire Board member Tim Jones reflecting on his new book about the life and career of former Worcestershire captain and the Cunty's record run-scorer in first class cricket, Don Kenyon.
Membership fees are unaltered for 2015-2016 – £15 or £20 for a double membership and non members can are welcome to attend at a charge of £3 per evening.
