Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes said Worcestershire are to seek a second opinion on the scans undertaken by all-rounder Gareth Andrew to determine the extent of his back problem.
Andrew made an outstanding start to the campaign with 20 wickets in the opening four LV = County Championship matches including a career best 5-40 against Glamorgan at the Swalec Stadium.
But the 30-year-old missed the home win over Essex and the first three matches in the NatWest T20 Blast aganst Durham Jets, Lancashire Lightning and Nottinghamshire Outlaws.
Rhodes said: "Gareth came through a bowl in one of the Second Eleven T20s (against Somerset at Kidderminster) to test him out and sadly he broke down again.
"We've since had some scan results that we are going to get a report on. He has missed the Kent game and we hope to try and get him back from there.
"We've got to still wait and see. We are going to have a second opinion on the scans we've seen.
"The scans didn't look terrible at all. I'd like to think and optimistically we can get him back playing as soon as we can which maybe will be after this Tunbridge Wells game.
"But let's wait and see and not get too far ahead of ourselves and wait for the medical people to tell us."
