Steve Rhodes believes Division Two of the Specsavers County Championship is of a stronger quality than when Worcestershire last competed at that level two years ago.
Director of Cricket Rhodes and his players will be looking for their first win in the competition this summer when they take on Leicestershire at Grace Road starting tomorrow (11am).
The County have played some fine cricket with bat and ball but had to settle for one complete wash-out and four other drawn matches.
They are currently lying in fifth spot in the table – 26 points behind current leaders Essex.
Rhodes said: "We are looking forward to the Leicestershire game. It is hopefully a chance for us to get going in that competition.
"We are desperate for a win but we have played some very good cricket in the five draws we've had.
"We've also come across some really good teams.
"Division Two seems a really strong division, a lot stronger than the last time we were there (in 2014).
"Sides are not rolling over and they are certainly determined to make it a tough campaign."
Worcestershire have had six complete days washed out this summer but Rhodes is philosophical about the impact of the weather.
He said: "That is life. We have to put up with that. We live in a country where it rains a lot in the summer so we just put up with that.
"We are looking forward to the match. I think it is a real good opportunity for us to hopefully get some good points.
"We will have more or less the same squad as for the Sussex game.
"We had a really good win at Grace Road two years ago and we are looking forward to hopefully something similar."
